Two Forms
Coen isn't one character with a night skin. He's two loadouts sharing a body.
Combat, both forms
Two ways to fight, no menu. Directional: push a direction as you attack or block, top, bottom, left or right, matching the incoming hit. Rewards timing. Omniattack and omniblock: no direction, just the button. Easier, and omniblock spends stamina where a directional block does not. The game's own loading tip: "While Omniblock consumes stamina, using Directional Block does not."✓
The cleanest proof of the two loadouts is a menu. The Active Abilities screen has separate Day Quick Slots and Night Quick Slots, four each.✓ One body, two kits.
Day Human
- Villages open, NPCs talk to you, daylight-only quests live.
- Health does not regenerate. You live off consumables and whatever you prepared before you left.
- Witchcraft hexes. Mercurial Fervour raises movement speed in human form.
- Haunted sites are daytime-only blood-magic content. Clearing them strengthens your magic.
Night Vrakhir
- A shadow step that closes distance instantly, plus short-range vampiric abilities. (Hands-on previews call it "Shadow Step". Rebel Wolves have not formally named it.)
- Feeding restores you. Human blood is best; on animal blood, in the game's own words, "it's less efficient, but it will do."
- Drain partially and leave them unconscious, or take all of it. The world remembers which.
- Wolf form for fast traversal, unlocked as a night perk.
Corruption
Feeding raises corruption, and corruption is mostly a key: the higher it climbs, the more vampiric perks unlock for purchase. On my save it goes up on every feed, and the feed meter itself carries two marks, a sleep mark and a kill mark, so the choice is priced into the meter before you make it.✓ But it runs both ways. Let Coen go hungry and he loses control. Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz has said an unfed Coen "can't help but kill the first NPC he sees to feed." That can rewrite a playthrough you can't reload out of.
Named abilities shown in official footage: Death from Above, Voracious Bite, Piercing Shriek, Charge, Broad Swing, Burning Blood, Precision, Ravenous Flock. Charge works in both forms.
